This is a Sakiori Boro rug made over 100 years ago from Tohoku region.

A Sakiori is a traditional Japanese woven textile made by upcycling old fabric scraps, typically from worn-out kimonos or other garments.

The word "sakiori" comes from the Japanese words "saku" (to tear) and "ori" (to weave)," referring to the process of shredding fabric into thin strips and weaving them into a new textile.

It is thick and just right for use as a rug. It has been washed many times so it has a soft texture.
