This beautiful hand-weaved textile fragment is called Basho-fu.

 

Bashō-fu is a type of traditional textile from Japan, primarily produced in Ryukyu (present-day Okinawa Prefecture). It is known for its distinctive softness and lightness. Traditionally made from banana tree fibers, it features unique patterns and colors. It's an important product rooted in the history and culture of Ryukyu and continues to be widely appreciated in tourism and daily life.

 

This one was weaved from banana tree fibers, brown part was dyed with Ryukyu indigo or plum tree.
