This is a fragment of Tsutsugaki-dyed indigo textile. Tsutsudakaki is a Japanese resist-dyeing technique in which a pattern is drawn on the cloth with glue, the fabric is dyed, and the glue is washed off.

This one is reconstructed from a lot of small indigo textiles. These patched and mended with Sashiko stitching in old-times.
