This kimono was a patchwork of various tenugui cotton fabrics joined together. These tenugui were used in Fish market in Tokyo about 70 years ago.

Tenugui is a traditional Japanese cloth used for a variety of purposes, such as a towel, hachimaki, decoration, or gift wrapping.

Tenugui is generally rectangular, 35-40 cm wide and 90-100 cm long, and made of cotton. They were widely distributed as sales promotions for companies.

Sewed these together by hand Sashiko stitching in old times.
