This jacket is made of a fabric dyed with indigo using a technique called kasuri ikat.
Kasuri, also known as ikat, is a traditional textile weaving technique that originated in Japan. In kasuri ikat, the threads are dyed before they are woven, creating patterns and designs in the fabric. The dye is applied to the threads in specific areas to create the desired pattern, and then the threads are woven together.
It was probably used by farmers on a daily basis.
It is in good condition with some damage but has a vintage feel to it.
