Japanese vintage hand painted floral pattern textile
This is a very old floral rug or wall hanging. We are told that it was decorated for celebratory occasions by wealthy families in Nagano Prefecture.
 
The beautiful floral pattern is hand-drawn on top of the stencil dyeing technique. A white cotton cloth is sewn on the back.
 
The color has faded in some places, but that is also beautiful.
