This is an indigo-dyed Boro textile made over 100 years ago. It was found in the northern west of Japan.

 

It has about 2 or 3 layers of a lot of indigo-dyed cotton fragments sewn on top of each other. All hand embroidered is called Sashiko.

 

This one is considered to have been used as a bed cover in old times, made of many tattered indigo-dyed fabrics including stencil dyed, ikat, and various type of indigo fabrics.

 

It has been washed many times so it has a soft texture, You could use it as a rug or tapestry.
