This is an indigo-dyed Boro textile made over 100 years ago. It was found in the northern west of Japan.
It has about 2 or 3 layers of a lot of indigo-dyed cotton fragments sewn on top of each other. Everything is embroidered by hand stitching called Sashiko.
The front side was made of mainly faded Katazome stencil dyed fabrics, the back side was made of a lot of tattered indigo dyed fabrics.
It has been washed many times so it has a soft texture, You could use as rug or tapestry.
